Since 1999, his lyrics and music have left a mark in Latin America's musical
history. Songs such as “Que Llueva la Paz” and “Siempre Hay Esperanza” have
traveled around continents, obtaining prestigious awards and inspiring the heart
of many.
His musical life begins at the early age of 8, by learning his first chords in
the guitar from his father. By the time he was a teenager he also learned to
play other instruments such as puertorican cuatro, bass, keyboards and, had
already written dozens of songs. He latter decides to attend to the University
of Puerto Rico to study music arrangement and composition, while dedicating his
spare time to familiarize himself with the sound engineering field, with the
idea of recording his own creations.
His songs under SonyBMG, interpreted by Danny Rivera, Sergio Vargas and Trio
among others, have been part of albums obtaining gold records, and in the year
2009 he became the first Latin American to win the People's Voice award in the
International Songwriting Competition.
Today Rei Ortiz has positioned himself among the best modern songwriters and
producers, working out of his own studio in Jacksonville, Florida. His new album
as a solo artist titled “A Jugarme la vida” demonstrates his lyrical and musical
versatility, in a journey that travels from love to society, and from dance
beats to the most sublime.
